Making Your Election Sure

Reading
2 Peter 1:3-11 KJV
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 3:12-15 KJV
12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;
15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.

Devotional
Peter challenges us to "make your calling and election sure." This means we must examine ourselves to ensure we're truly in the faith. It's possible to drift while still appearing faithful—attending services, serving in ministry, saying the right words—yet inwardly growing cold, bitter, or distant from God. The most dangerous drifting happens when no one else can see it. Today, be honest before God. Is your heart fully His? Are you walking in holiness, or are you compromising in secret? Are you living like Jesus is coming back, or have you grown lukewarm? Don't miss the call because you were too proud to admit you need to draw closer. Fall on your knees today and cry out for more of Him and less of you.
Reflection Question: If Jesus returned right now, would you confidently meet Him, or would fear grip your heart?
