What Is Your Response?

Reading:
Acts 2:36–41 (KJV)
36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. 37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. 40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

Romans 5:6–8 (KJV)
6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Devotional:
When people heard that the Jesus they crucified was Lord and Christ, they were cut to the heart and asked, "What shall we do?" Peter's answer was clear: repent, be baptized in Jesus' name for the remission of sins, and receive the Holy Spirit. God has written you a love letter in the person of Jesus Christ. Every love letter expects a response. Silence is a response. Indifference is a response. But what response honors the greatest love ever shown? God isn't asking if you love what He can do for you—He's asking if you love Him. Today, examine your response to God's love. Have your actions matched your words? Love isn't proven by what we say but by what we do.

Reflection:
If Jesus asked you directly, "Do you love Me?" what would your life's actions answer?
