Receiving the Gift

Reading
 Acts 2:38-39
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

 John 14:15-18, 26

15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Devotional
God doesn't just forgive your debt—He gives you a gift. After repentance and baptism, He promises the Holy Spirit, His very presence dwelling within you. This isn't a reward you earn; it's a gift He delights to give. God is faithful to every promise He makes. He doesn't offer gifts to manipulate or control—He gives because His nature is generous love. The Holy Spirit empowers you to live the transformed life, provides comfort in trials, and guides you into all truth. This promise is for you, your children, and all who are far off—everyone the Lord calls. Today, if you've received this gift, thank God and yield to the Spirit's leading. If you haven't, respond to God's plan today. Your response truly makes all the difference between religion and relationship, between knowing about God and knowing God.
