The New Birth—Getting Ready

Reading
John 3:1-8 KJV
3 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

Acts 2:37-39 KJV
37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Devotional
Jesus told Nicodemus something revolutionary: "You must be born again." This isn't optional Christianity; it's the entry point. Peter clarified what this means: repent, be baptized in Jesus' name for the remission of sins, and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. This is getting ready. Many people confuse church attendance with salvation, religious activity with relationship. But the new birth is a definitive moment—being born of water and Spirit. It's the old you being buried and a new creation rising. If you've never experienced this scriptural salvation, today is your day. The door is still open. The water is ready. The Spirit is available. Don't let another day pass living on borrowed time. Respond to the gospel today.
Reflection Question: Have you truly been born again according to Scripture, or are you relying on tradition?
