The Bigness of God's Promises

Reading

Genesis 12:1-4 KJV
12 Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: 2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. 4 So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.

Romans 4:18-21 KJV
18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. 19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb: 20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; 21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

Devotional

God's promises often seem impossibly big from our limited perspective. When God called Abram (later Abraham), He promised to make him the father of many nations - a promise that seemed laughable given Abram's age and childless status. Yet God's vision extends far beyond our immediate circumstances. Today, reflect on the "big" promises God has given you. Do they seem impossible? Remember that with God, all things are possible. His promises are not constrained by our limitations or current situations. Ask God to expand your faith to believe in His extraordinary promises, even when they seem beyond reach.
