Love That Binds

Reading
Colossians 3:12-14 KJV

Devotional
Above all, clothe yourself with love—it's what holds everything together in perfect harmony. Notice that Paul lists compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, but then says love is what binds them all. Without love, these virtues are just loose threads. You can be kind without love, but it won't last. You can show patience without love, but it will run out. Love is the binding agent that makes your character complete. Today, examine your relationships—at work, at home, in your church. Are you trying to maintain unity through rules and boundaries, or through genuine love? Make allowances for others' faults, just as Christ made allowances for yours. Your love should be the glue that holds your community together, even when differences arise.
