Letting the Dead Bury Their Dead

Reading: Matthew 8:18-22

Devotional: Jesus' response to the disciple seems harsh until we understand the urgency of the Kingdom. "Let the dead bury their dead" isn't callousness—it's a call to prioritize eternal purposes over temporal obligations. Spiritually dead people can handle earthly matters, but you've been called to Kingdom work. How many divine appointments have you missed while attending to things others could handle? Your destiny waits on the other side of obedience. The enemy uses "legitimate" excuses to delay your purpose—family obligations, financial concerns, timing issues. But delayed obedience is disobedience. God isn't asking you to be irresponsible; He's asking you to be radically available. When He calls, He's already made provision. Stop negotiating with God about your availability. The harvest is ready, but laborers are stuck managing affairs that don't require their anointing.
