Applying the Payment

Reading
Romans 3:21-26
21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

Romans 6:1-4
6 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Devotional
Jesus paid your debt in full, but the credit must be applied to your account. Imagine someone offering to pay your largest bill—you wouldn't just walk away without ensuring the payment was properly processed. Similarly, Christ's sacrifice is complete, but you must follow God's instructions to receive it. Baptism in Jesus' name is not a ritual; it's the application of His blood to your sin account. It's where your old life is buried and you rise to walk in newness of life. Many believe Jesus died for them but never apply His payment through obedience. Today, if you've never been baptized according to Acts 2:38, don't delay. If you have, reflect on the magnitude of having your balance cleared and live in that freedom.
